Rapper The Game Facing Charges Over Twitter Prank?
On Rollin’ With Nick Cannon, Nick was stressing the point that different ways social networking can ruin your day.
Case in point: Rapper [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Game[/lastfm] got into a little bit of trouble last Friday when a tweet was sent from his account telling people to call a number to apply for an internship… a number that turned out to be the Compton, CA sheriff’s office.
Hundreds of fans ended up calling the number, overwhelming it’s phone systems… something the police apparently look down upon.
Yeesh… serious business!
In an attempt to douse these flames, MySpace has just released a video interview with The Game from the day in question and posted a transcript of the interview as evidence, which they say you can consider as examples A and B.
Case closed? Not so much…
The Game recently told gossip site TMZ that it wasn’t him who sent the tweets, but “a childhood friend,” whose Twitter handle is @wackstar. Apparently @wackstar got hold of his buddy’s phone and just started tweet tweeting away.
The Sheriff’s Department say they plan on turning over a complaint to the District Attorney’s office to possibly file charges against The Game, including “delaying or obstructing a peace officer in the performance of their duties.” The Sheriffs office also says that they tried asking The Game to cut it out, but he says he never received the message.
“They don’t have my number and I’m not following the police.”
An even better quote from the Game through all this: “Casey Anthony can get away with murder and The Game goes to jail for tweeting. God bless America.”
OK then. Let’s see where this nonsense takes us in the next few weeks.
