Rarely sans sunglasses, head covering, and his camoflauge of a ton of tattoos, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lil Wayne[/lastfm] might look hard to the untrained eye, but this Young Money maestro is actually totally endearing. Have you seen how he grins? Aww, what? So adorbs.

In his newest promo for the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards, Weezy flows like a regular Def Jam poet to his tune “John” from Tha Carter IV and explains the emotional inspiration behind lyrics like “I pay these people with a reality check.”

Wearing some sort of cropped shorts and pink shoes combo, ex-jailbird Lil Wayne should be happy that the fashion police wasn’t judging the spots, but the audience did get an intimate look into how Weezy is influenced to write his lyrics.

“Emotion is a great inspiration for my music,” explains Wayne. “We all have a billion emotions bottled up inside of us, so I try to find risky at times and catchy ways to get those emotions out.”

When rapping gets too dangerous, skateboarding is always an option.
