[Poll] Speak Up! Booker’s 2011 MTV VMA Picks, Do You Agree?

Ahhhh, the VMA’s are on Sunday… The prestige, the honor, the….oh wait, no artist really cares if they win or not unless they are under 15. It’s the award show that focuses on the fun, the “outrageous,  the outfits and the “speeches”. Yes, Kayne, I am talking about you!

But with that said, MTV does a pretty good job of making sure that some “real” musicians get honored year to year even if the MTV audience doesn’t really know who the hell they are. I’m thinking of Florence and the Machine last year, the Flaming Lips, a few years back, Muse before they were Muse, so on and so forth..

So let’s get in to it.. Who will be the big winner/winners this year? I’ll go ahead and toss out my “expert” opinion if you care to listen.  After all, Carson Daly isn’t the only EX-MTV VJ on the Amp Radio staff. He’s just the only one that was good at it!

Enough of my B.S. here are my picks..

VIDEO OF THE YEAR

Adele is going to get a lot of love on Sunday night and rightfully so. “21” is a journey about heartbreak. Who hasn’t been there? Sunday night she will finally get the recognition that she is owed.

Katy Perry will also (FINALLY) get a lot of love too. I feel sorry for her. She has been nominated for everything over the past couple of years but never seems to win because of Beyonce and GAGA. Who else besides Michael Jackson has had as many #1’s in a row off of the same album? the answer is NOBODY. First woman in music history, not Stevie Nicks, or Madonna, or Gaga, Joplin or even Brit. Katy is due and she should win a lot on Sunday night.

There are some other awards but I couldn’t care less. How about some better categories like “Looking the hottest in a video?” Or maybe “Best Cameo in video?” How about, “Best Video to Fist Pump too!” Best “Art Direction?” Really, who cares? Not exactly a “water cooler moment.”

Enjoy the show. Sunday night at 9p on M T V!
