Being a Phone Op at AMP Radio, I often have time to look for obscure music on the internet and as you know there is a lot to sift through. But I do it everyday in the hopes of bringing you a shiny gem from time to time.
Ladies and Gentlefolk, I found a gem! And boy is she shiny! [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Neon Hitch[/lastfm] is my newest pop music obsession!
The obsession started after stumbling onto her cover of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Wiz Khalifa’s [/lastfm]“On My Level,“ followed by the discovery of a video of her re-imagining Pittsburgh rapper [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mac Miller’s[/lastfm] sleeper hit, “Donald Trump.”
That was all it took to be totally smitten by her. Turns out, the UK singer, songwriter covered “Gucci Gucci” by the ever controversial [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kreayshawn[/lastfm] which brought to mind one thing: “ONE BIG ROOM, FULL OF BAD…”- well you get the idea. The only question left was what flavor is she going to bring to this one?
Like most of her videos, the swag Neon Hitch brings here is hard to put your finger on. Her voice is enchanting, and sounds like an instrument in its own right. Her style is daring, the music is raw and her stripped down beats provide the perfect compliment to her sound. This is a pop star in the making.
Just watch how she peddles those purses on the streets of New York City, you know want what she is selling.
And we’re buying it with good reason. Neon Hitch has some heat under belt. As a songwriter, she co-wrote [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ke$ha’s[/lastfm] “Blah Blah Blah,” proving she’s got the chops.
The first single from her debut album, “Bad Dog” is available now on iTunes. Beg, Borrow, and Steal is still in the works but should be out soon. Check out the official lyric video for the single.
