Jimmy Kimmel is a longtime friend of the AMP Radio morning show.

In fact, Carson used to intern for the late night host back when they were both getting their start in radio.

So naturally, we were heartbroken when we heard his Uncle Frank, a frequent guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, passed away late last month.

Yesterday night, a tearful Jimmy took to airwaves to celebrate his life.

The 77-year-old served as a police officer for 20 years and had a short stint as a personal security guard for [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Frank Sinatra[/lastfm].

But it was on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that we all got to know and love Frank Potenza, where he did all sorts of hilarious bits with Guillermo and his ex-wife Chippy.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy told the audience before the show:

His plan was to live to 103. He wanted to be oldest living retired police officer in New York City not because he wanted to set a record or be in the paper; he just wanted to stick them for another 25 years of pension checks.

All jokes aside, it was an emotional and bittersweet tribute featuring clips from Uncle Frank’s many appearances on the show.
