[Audio] Carson Daly: Michael Jackson Trial Gets Underway, Prosecution Releases Disturbing Audio
More than 2 years after the death of [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Michael Jackson[/lastfm], his manslaughter trial finally began here in Los Angeles.
From the get-go, you can tell this is going to be a knock-down, drag-out case.
The prosecution got things off to a shocking start, playing an audio clip of an allegedly heavily-sedated MJ.
Lawyers for the prosecution are trying to prove that Dr. Conrad Murray was reckless in providing dangerous drugs like Propofol to the pop singer.
The defense is arguing, rather, that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Michael Jackson[/lastfm] self-administered the lethal dose while Murray was out of the room.
But the most alarming revelation of yesterday’s proceedings was an audio clip of Michael talking about his This Is It tour.
Warning: The following audio is disturbing to hear.
The singer is barely intelligible and prosecution provided a transcript of what he said:
We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, `I’ve never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I’ve never seen nothing like this. Go. It’s amazing. He’s the greatest entertainer in the world. I’m taking that money, a million children, children’s hospital, the biggest in the world, Michael Jackson’s Children’s Hospital…”
Furthermore, the prosecution also showed the jury photos of MJ on a gurney after he had already died.
Testimony continues today with more witnesses taking the stand.
