Last year, the Roc Nation captain, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm], released a hardcover book called “Decoded” that explained many of his rhymes and verses by correlating them with real-life incidences that inspired his lyrics.

[photogallerylink id=42666 align=left]On November 1st, Jay plans to re-release his book in paperback with a new cover. The second release will also include other additions like a new chapter and pictures. By far the most exciting additions are the three new songs and afterword, written by the man himself, Jay-Z.

This is a peak of the afterword, it really encompasses all you can gain from this book, “What still excites me about rap is that it’s an open thread, a cipher that listeners find their own meanings in. The point of this book is not to settle arguments or transform rap songs into neat stories with a beginning, middle, and end. Rather, I’m trying to point readers to some ideas and information, get them to see deeper into the music than they saw before and learn more about worlds different from their own (or find new ways of looking at the worlds they already know)—to find their own meanings and connect them back to their own lives. I want readers to see the craft and learn the context—and I want them to still be able to feel the magic, and enjoy the show.” —JAY-Z, from the new Afterword

The paperback version should be a cheaper buy, so I’d suggest at least flipping through this one. Knowing the history of an artist or song can help frame an album or song in a whole new light.

Musicians have become masters of the side hustle! With [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]50 Cent[/lastfm]’s stock in Vitamin Water, his new energy drink, Street King, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Will.i.am[/lastfm] working for Intel, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Diddy[/lastfm] owns Ciroc, and name one AMP artist without their own clothing line or accessory.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]T.I.[/lastfm], fresh out the half way house has a book written and ready to put on book store shelves. This side hustle is one of his many, with a record label and artists like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]B.o.B.[/lastfm] under him, and a clothing line, this is just another great thing he’s accomplished.

His novel, entitled “Power & Beauty” is a fictional love story written by T.I. with David Ritz is set in the South and promises to be a dramatic tale of love and love lost. You can get it at book retailers on October 18th. Until then, the first 8 pages are on display at HHNM. Check it out!

[photogallerylink id=105312 align=left]AMP is a big fan of Mr. Rager, the cudder, Kid Cudi. So when he says he is changing the face of music, well we just hope it looks a little more like his face.

After forming the rock band, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]2 Be Continuum[/lastfm], with “Day N Nite” producer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dot da Genius[/lastfm], the next obvious move was to drop an album. The album, Wizard, is going be epic according to Cudi, “I’ve only been playing guitar for nine months but the records are f**king epic, epic. I’m really psyched,” he said.

And, as stated, Cudi promises this album will deliver more than good music, but a new kind of music, “Ima need everyone to understand, when this Wizard album drops, the world of music is going to change, for the better. I promise. December!” tweeted Cudder.

His December due date seems more likely after forgoing his mixtape, A Man Named Scott, in order to focus all of his attention on this next album, “Trust im working extra hard to make this shit as amazing as possible and get yall some new jams,” he said in response to cutting the mixtape.

Guitars? Rock Band? What do you think new Kid Cudi and 2 Be Continuum will sound like? Let us know in the comments!
