Willow Smith has just released her third single “Fireball” featuring Nicki Minaj, and will be hoping to have a third hit on her hands. It’s a yearsince “Whip My Hair” became a schoolyard anthem, so are fans still interested?

Today Last.fm Trends looks at both their scrobbles, to see what a collaboration could bring.

Last.fm Trends: Can Willows Fireball Set The Charts Alight?

Their collaborations so far have stretched to an unofficial remix of “Whip My Hair,” but Minaj and Smith share a remarkably similar trajectory for their weekly listener numbers over the past year. Rising sharply twelve months ago, listeners are trailing off slightly – but Minaj remains about three times as popular as Smith.

Second single “21st Century Girl” couldn’t capture the chart success of “Whip My Hair,” and it’s the same story at Last.fm: it’s only gained 31,084 listeners compared to 453,531 for her debut. With Nicki in tow, “Fireball” might recreate that impact a year on.
