Today will almost certainly be one of the busier days in the music calender – with Coldplay‘s brand new album being released worldwide.

Mylo Xyloto is the English rockers fifth album and will almost certainly carry on their legacy as one of the world’s biggest bands.

Last.fm Trends looks at how Colplay have been scrobbling in the lead up to the release of Mylo Xyloto.

Coldplay’s status amongst music is seen most clearly with the number 204,187,522 – their total scrobble count that is beaten only by the likes of Radiohead (306,186,650 scrobbles) and The Beatles (338,144,514 scrobbles).

Anticipation for Mylo Xyloto has predictably been high. Lead single “Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall” was released back in June and is already nearing the million scrobble mark – currently standing at 944,678 scrobbles.

It has already made a huge impact on their charts, with the track being their sixth most listened to track last week with 14,503 listeners. Second single “Paradise” followed suit mid-September, though it hasn’t had quite the effect. Despite already clocking up 317,234 scrobbles, it was their eleventh most listened to track last week.

Both singles bought Coldplay closer to 1,000,000 weekly scrobbles – a landmark that the band should fly past as scrobbles for the album come in.
