[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Rihanna[/lastfm] may have found love with her latest single, but that’s the least of her accomplishments. “We Found Love” marks Rihanna’s 11th No. 1 single. The 23-year-old Roc Nation artist has set a groundbreaking standard for any songstress that comes after her.
[photogallerylink id=107575 align=left]If you are thinking this isn’t a masterful feat, please, let me put in some perspective for you. Rihanna’s 11thchart topping single surpasses [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Stevie Wonder [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Janet Jackson[/lastfm], who had 10 each. She ties [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Whitney Houston[/lastfm] and is riding on the coat tails of greats like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Supremes[/lastfm] (12) and[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Madonna[/lastfm] (12). Oh, and that one guy, whom we consider one of the greatest entertainers of all-time, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Michael Jackson[/lastfm], he’s got 13 No. 1s.
This isn’t something that should be taken lightly. Rihanna has become a hit-making powerhouse. Though she is a distance from the leaders on the list, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Beatles[/lastfm] (20) and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mariah Carey[/lastfm] (18), she is only 23, and has quite a future.
That is, if she slows down a little bit. Days ago, Rihanna tweeted a picture from a hospital with an IV in her arm. The “Disturbia” singer had to cancel a show in Sweden after coming down with the flu. Yuck!
Her doctor’s have advised that she take a break from partying, and I can understand why. A source close to the singer alleged that Rihanna doesn’t have time to rest, “Rihanna is running on empty but she’s still been going out drinking and living it up,” the source claims. “She doesn’t have any down time where she can completely relax. She spends most of her time in the studio, on stage or in clubs.”
Though it seems unlikely, as Rihanna is in the middle of a tour promoting her sixth studio album, Talk That Talk, the source says the Doctor’s urge a halt in her hectic lifestyle, or she will just keep getting sick, “Doctors are worried she’s overdoing it,” the insider adds. “She needs to take some time off. Otherwise she’ll be vulnerable to more illness.”
Ri-Ri, relax. Get better. Come back strong, we ain’t going nowhere.

There is an exciting music documentary on the horizon and it features none other than Marshall Mathers, ladies and gentleman.
“The Untold Story of Detroit Hip-Hop” is an upcoming documentary that focuses in on local as well as larger acts that have come out of Motor City. This includes [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kid Rock[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]ICP[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Royce Da 5’9″[/lastfm], and of course [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Eminem[/lastfm], just to name a few.
[photogallerylink id=88148 align=left]One of the biggest draws on the film is that features rare footage of a young, pre [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dr. Dre[/lastfm] Eminem wilding out for the camera. Producer, director Brian “Champtown” Harmon is a staple in the Detroit hip hop community and says that he hopes Eminem reaches out to help him make this movie despite past beef and alleged animosity, “A lot of people think that there is some animosity between Eminem and me, but they would be shocked to know that I was influential in his early life and career,” he told reporters, adding, “Whatever the case, I just hope we can all move forward and create a masterpiece. But, if any one of them decides not to get down with this documentary, it will be considered a smack in the face to the entire Detroit Hip-Hop community.”
If [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Champtown[/lastfm]’s story holds up, it seems he was integral in helping develop Eminem, “As a matter of fact, the first real recording studio that Em ever recorded in was with me at Prince’s Paisley Park in 1992 through my connections,” Champtown revealed.
We hope Eminem gets on it, the rest of the artists too. Detroit could use the positivity and the fans of hip-hop deserve the complete story from those that lived it.
Bring it on.

But seriously, is there anyone that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] doesn’t just love and want to help? By my count, it’s looking like a resounding no.
Mother Monster has teamed with her own mother, Cynthia Gaga, I mean Germanotta to work on what she calls their “passion project.” It comes in the form of the Born This Way Foundation, which aims to help youth struggling with a variety of issues.
[photogallerylink id=128568 align=left]The statement Gaga issued explaining their new organization, “My mother and I have initiated a passion project. We call it the Born This Way Foundation,” Gaga said in her statement “Together we hope to establish a standard of Bravery and Kindness, as well as a community worldwide that protects and nurtures others in the face of bullying and abandonment.”
According to the foundation mission statement, it will focus on “youth empowerment and equality by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring and career development and will utilize digital mobilization as one of the means to create positive change.”
This is just one stone in the river of actions Lady Gaga has taken to combat bullying, especially after the tragic instance of 14-year-old Jeremy Rodmeyer‘s suicide. So distraught, Gaga tweeted soon thereafter “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She then pledged to speak with President Obama on the issue of bullying, which she accomplished promptly.
Who needs some loving next? Mother Monster is taking requests!
