Looking for a new drink to sip on in the club? [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]NeYo[/lastfm] might have just what you’re looking for. The “Miss Independent” singer spent the summer working with Malibu to create his own signature drink. It’s called Malibu Red.

The adult frosty beverage, a mix of rum and tequila, will debut in March 2012. NeYo has acted as more than just a celebrity face of this creation though, “Malibu Red is not just another celebrity-endorsed product,” said Ian Crystal, Global Marketing Director, Malibu. “Turning the term partnership on its head, Ne-Yo has really served as the Creative Director of Malibu Red from beginning to end.”

The creative marketing plan for Malibu Red includes a series of commercials, short films, exclusive music, behind-the scenes content and digital and video conversations aimed at reaching out to the audience and showing off the party atmosphere that goes with most celebrity drinks.

Seemingly, the centerpiece to the endorsement will be an NeYo’s upcoming concert tour sponsored by Malibu.

Expect new music from Mr. Imperfect in early 2012.
