[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Shakira[/lastfm]’s hips are not lying these days! The “Whenever, Whereever” singer is receiving quite the accolades this month. She’ll start her day making her mark on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and end it by receiving the Person of the Year Award at the Latin Grammys.
[photogallerylink id=71223 align=left]Since arriving on the US scene in 2001, Shakira has twisted and shook her hips right into our hearts. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce broke the news on their website just days ago where they detailed her work with children under her “Pies Descalzos” (Barefoot) Foundation, which she started at 18 and has recently opened its sixth school. According to the site, “The foundation provides education and nutrition to more than six thousand impoverished children in Colombia and is expanding its work to other countries, including newly-launched projects in Haiti and South Africa.”
Also notably, Shakira was named to the White House Education commission by President Obama, solidifying her status as a philanthropist and social activist.
She has become an advocate of education in a global perspective and has spoken to world leaders on the topic to advocate for social policy changes. She fights for every nation, not just her native Colombia. Her song “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” became the official theme song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
She introduced her music and culture to the American public, being the first person to sing a Spanish song on the MTV Video Music Awards in 2005 and has been a staple on dance floors all around the world with hits like “Hips Don’t Lie.”
Shakira has earned Grammys, Latin Grammys, Latin Billboard Awards and has even been nominated for a Golden Globe award. She may not just be the Latin Grammy person of the year, but perhaps the decade.
Not to mention, she is the highest selling Colombian artist of all-time. These are only parts of her extensive resume. Need I say more?
Don’t forget to check out her new album, a concert album, Shakira: Live From Paris,on Dec. 6.
Congratulations, Shakira, you deserve every bit of it!

Looking for a new drink to sip on in the club? [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]NeYo[/lastfm] might have just what you’re looking for. The “Miss Independent” singer spent the summer working with Malibu to create his own signature drink. It’s called Malibu Red.
The adult frosty beverage, a mix of rum and tequila, will debut in March 2012. NeYo has acted as more than just a celebrity face of this creation though, “Malibu Red is not just another celebrity-endorsed product,” said Ian Crystal, Global Marketing Director, Malibu. “Turning the term partnership on its head, Ne-Yo has really served as the Creative Director of Malibu Red from beginning to end.”
The creative marketing plan for Malibu Red includes a series of commercials, short films, exclusive music, behind-the scenes content and digital and video conversations aimed at reaching out to the audience and showing off the party atmosphere that goes with most celebrity drinks.
Seemingly, the centerpiece to the endorsement will be an NeYo’s upcoming concert tour sponsored by Malibu.
Expect new music from Mr. Imperfect in early 2012.

Well let me start by saying ‘Right On!’ to the person in charge of the most recent issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine. The December issue will feature everyone’s favorite song bird, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adele[/lastfm]. And this time, it’s not just her face.
Making headlines as she’s been, Adele has been on top of the list when it comes to magazine covers these days, but unfortunately most editors have chosen to crop her images to just include her face, as is common practice for many of the curvier celebs, see: Gabby Sidibe.
This cover is amazing though, showcasing the voluptuous hips that encase the voice we love to listen to and sing along with in the privacy of our own homes and cars (or maybe that’s just me).
Some peoples have been mixed on the Dolce & Gabbana leopard print dress, but the photo shopping was no more egregious than any other magazine cover, and that’s just plain awesome.
