[photogallerylink id=111094 align=left][lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Cee-Lo[/lastfm] has been steadily climbing up the fame mountain for the last few years now. Dropping hits either as his duo with DJ [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Danger Mouse[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Gnarls Barkley[/lastfm], or as a solo act. “Crazy” still gets crazy radio play and the novelty in “Forget You” hasn’t quite worn off yet, but Cee-Lo isn’t stopping here.
Though he recently pulled out of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show with fellow heavyweights, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kanye West [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Maroon 5[/lastfm], Green has more ventures that are sure to bow your mind. One of his most impressive is his acting role in the remake of the 1976 musical classic, Sparkle.
The story focuses on a three woman singing group in the Motown era who have to deal with “the fallout of drugs and fame” according to the IMDB page for the film. Billed as “The girls opening act,” Cee-Lo’s role will most likely allow him to show off hs talented voice, old-school charm and charisma.
Also staring in this picture is a woman who is no stranger to the backlash of drugs and fame, and that’s Whitney Houston. This marks her first acting role since 1996. Whitney will play Jordin Sparks’ mother, who is also starring. We have high hopes for the entire cast.
With clear competition with the movie Dreamgirls, this movie looks to capture much of the same audience. Only time will tell if it can repeat the Academy of success Dreamgirls attained. But then again they had a secret weapon in [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Jennifer Hudson[/lastfm]. Is Cee-Lo the key to pulling of this film? We will see!
The film should be out in 2012.
