Oh, Glee. First you waved grunged-out, chain-smoking Quinn in our face like a dirty-faced Goddess of Everything Alternative then you took her away while also making Sue Sylvester a conniving curmudgeon again.
All we were left with was the shining beacon of Blaine and Kurt, lots of unicorns, and the amazing addition of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Idina Menzel[/lastfm] a/k/a “Shelby Corcoran” as the newly-hired music teacher and Rachel’s still-absent mom.
That is until you smartly created the all-girl glee group, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]The Troubletones[/lastfm].
Not only do we heart girl groups, we adore the solo singing voices of Santana (Naya Rivera) and Mercedes (Amber Riley). Mix that with the retro glamor of an [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Adele [/lastfm]mash-up and some little black dresses in the upcoming episode “Mash Off” and we might start to joyfully weep again from every awesome Glee scene.
Clad in classy black, The Troubletones move and moan to the fiery “Rumour Has It” and somber “Someone Like You.” Santana casts longing glances at a seemingly oblivious Brittany (aren’t they taking bubble baths together again?) and the once dance-shy Mercedes shimmied along that stage as deftly as the rest of the girls.
Another thing we’d like to note is how gorgeous all the girls look in this scene, especially Mercedes. In every season, the costume people haven’t given justice to her womanly curves with their juvenile outfits but girl has been getting some good duds lately.
Keep it sassy and girlie, Glee. We approve.
