[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm] is just plain awesome. Last Friday on Ellen, Katy announced she would host a free show at the Staples Center for her fans to thank them for their support this year. The free show will also act as the final show of her California Dreams tour.
[photogallerylink id=114271 align=left]Katy saved her super secret announcement for The Ellen Show (good call), where she said she would rent out the Staples Center herself and put on the show just for fans. “I am giving thanks to all of my fans. This is my big announcement on Ellen that no one has heard about or knows about. I played 121 shows up in to the 23rd date, and I want to finish it off by renting out Staples myself and giving a free concert to anyone in the world that wants to come to the California Dreams tour as my last show.”
As soon as the announcement went out on the airwaves, people hit the net trying to figure out how to get access to the possibility of an amazing Katy show. AMP radio obviously had the inside scoop. You have until TODAY to register to get up to 4 redeemable tickets to the November 23rd arena show.
Katy Perry also took some time on Ellen to talk about her plans to start a family with hubby Russell Brand. Looks like babies are on the schedule but it’s clear where they on the 27-year-old singer’s schedule. “I would love to have children. I think that’s one of the reasons you get married. Especially to the person that you marry. You think, that person is going to be a good partner, a good parent,” Katy told Ellen. “But I’m not sure it’s yet. We’ll see, ya know,”she continued.
And if you happen to wonder how many pups the power couple plan to pump out, well that all depends on pain receptors. Perry says that ,”If it doesn’t hurt the first time. I’ll keep popping them out.”
More power to you! One of my favorite things about Katy is that she is very aware of what she wants to do. From family planning to the story she plays out during her tours, every bit is thoughtful and really expresses who Katy Perry is as a person.

“The One That Got Away” by Katy Perry
It may seem like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]T.I. [/lastfm]has a lot to prove to his fans and perhaps even his family and close friends, but the Grand Hustle general plans, first and foremost to live up to his own expectations. And that includes his forthcoming album, which could be out as early as February.
[photogallerylink id=128447 align=left]When asked about the pressure he may be under to put out his next album, Tip made it clear that the pressure he feels isn’t out of the ordinary for any album he’s worked on, “I mean, I don’t feel a certain amount of pressure to get it done by a certain time,” T.I. said.“I feel the usual pressure of making an album my life, like every time I do an album I feel the pressure of needing to make it my life, you know?
Assuring his audience that the pressure isn’t a negative thing in the long run, T.I. continued, “But I take that pressure and apply it to my creative process. The tentative date is looking like February,” he told reporters, which would be awesome.
Though he’s been away for sometime he remains that his position in the music industry is safe and he doesn’t have to prove anything to anyone else, “I got something to prove to myself. I ain’t got nothing to prove to nobody else ’cause at the end of the day, I’m a marquee artist and I think my numbers speak for themselves.”
And while a number of new artists are excelling, in regards to rap veterans, the commercial industry is scarce. T.I. spoke on that idea saying, “I’m on my eighth album and ain’t nobody eight albums in right now, who’s really relevant…Besides Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, it ain’t a lot [laughs]. You know what I’m saying? Ain’t a lot.” He went on to reaffirm his main sentiment, “So, I got something to prove to myself, not nobody else. I always knew and I will always know what I’m capable of.”

The rumor mill in the music industry, as is the case with all segments of the entertainment industry, is ripe with juicy gossip and speculations that fly around the web faster than the speed of light, if you ask me. And maybe if you asked [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]will.i.am.[/lastfm] or[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Fergie[/lastfm] lately.
[photogallerylink id=109970 align=left]Will.i.am has been fighting rumors that Fergie was leaving the mega group,[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Black Eyed Peas [/lastfm]for weeks now. Even [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Kanye West [/lastfm]fell victim to the rumor, sending a shout out to the Black Eyed Peas at the Austin City Lights festival as far back as late September, “RIP to The Black Eyed Peas! You’ll be missed!” he said in the middle of his hit single, “All of The Lights.” My spidey-sense makes me think this is where the rumor started or at least picked up most of it’s steam.
Since then, Will has been on the offensive, sending out tweets left and right to combat the rumor. Almost immediately after the Kanye incident, will.i.am took to his page to say, “Maybe @kanyewest was stating the fact we will take a rest for a little bit…but we the @bep will never die…never…impossible.”
Perhaps the “indefinite break” Fergie spoke of awhile back is the real culprit of the miscommunication with fans, but even after Will’s tweet, months later, there is still speculation. Former radio personality and now talk show host, Wendy Williams even got her wires twisted. Again, this took place on Twitter, where messages seem to float through space as fact until debunked by several reliable sources.
After an unconfirmed report spread through the web said that [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ashanti [/lastfm]was replacing Fergie in the group, enough was enough and will.i.am. became noticibly short tempered with Wendy on twitter, “As a journalist you should check facts before spreading rumors,” the “Boom Boom Pow” rapper tweeted to Wendy Williams. “Going to @bep twitter page to find out the truth is easy.” She responded saying she would talk about it on her show.
He does have a really good point there.
No worries, people. BEP will never die. And Fergie isn’t going anywhere. It just wouldn’t be the same without her.
