Thanksgiving is next week which gives us a chance to reflect on our year and think about the things we are thankful for. It also is a great time to give back to our community and find ways to easily show our appreciation to those around us. Today, we put together a list of 5 easy ways to give back this Thanksgiving.
One huge plus side of living in a big city is that there are TONS of opportunities to join in community efforts to help those around you. On our list we give you ways to give back that can be done alone and we also add in some ways to join together with your friends to help out! So in no particular order, here are 5 easy ways to give back this Thanksgiving season!
Volunteer at a Food Bank.
Last year, the AMP-Tourage got together and volunteered at the St.Francis Center in downtown Los Angeles. They helped stock and organize shelves for the amazing people that were coming in that day to go shopping for groceries. It was a great experience for everyone, and they are even going back again this week to give their time.

Now is a great time to go through your closet and empty it of clothing items you may not be using anymore. Get rid of those t-shirts and jeans you have been holding on for and give them to someone who could really use them! This is an easy way to give back, while also doing a lot of good!

Volunteer at Your Local Soup Kitchen
All year long, and especially around the holidays, there are tons of opportunities to volunteer at local soup kitchens. You can help serve food to homeless families and individuals, providing a hot meal which is always an amazing thing to do for someone.

Donate Canned Goods
November is a great month with LOTS of business participating in canned food drives. Local grocery stores have drop off locations, as well as banks, convenience stores, and ask if your job is having a donation box as well. It could be as easy as bringing in a can from home and dropping it off in the lobby of your office!
Our friends and fellow CBS Radio station over at 93.1 JACK FM are having their annual Chips for a Can stick up at Morongo Casino. You drop off a canned good and let them put a sticker on your car, and they give you a $10 Morongo chip, a turkey, and a JACK FM t-shirt. Not too shabby. More on that by clicking here.
Donate Some Cash
We know times are tight for a lot of people, and asking to donate cash is a lot. However, every penny helps so even a donation of $1 when you’ve got a little extra goes a long way. If you stop at your local grocer and they have a donate place, drop a buck in. You never know how much that dollar can help, and if everyone dropped in some spare change it could do a lot!
So there you have it, 5 easy ways to get involved. You’ve got no excuse now so go out there and do something great!
