[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gym Class Heroes[/lastfm] have been breaking their way into our stereo hearts every since their breakout hit “Cupid’s Chokehold” with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Fall Out Boy[/lastfm]’s [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Patrick Stump[/lastfm]. The album that launched that song, As Cruel As School Children, dropped in 2006 and spawned a years long tour that came to a head at as the co-headliner of the 2008 Warped Tour.
That being said their latest album, The Papercut Chronicles II came out last week. I don’t know about you guys, but hear at AMP radio we expect that tour to start any day now. And we can’t wait!
[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Travie McCoy[/lastfm], the band’s lead vocalist has big plans for the new album and forthcoming tour. “We think that there’s at least three big hit singles on it,” McCoy says of the album, “And [we] plan on working this album through next summer and beyond,” he says. “We believe in Gym Class long term.” What a coincidence! So do we!
[photogallerylink id=39825 align=left]When it comes to Gym Class albums, they always come with tours so we should expect no different from the latest. “Usually when we put out a record, we like to tour for at least three, four years,” McCoy told reporters. For him, the music hasn’t stopped in a few years now, “It was just one big f***ing menagerie of work,” he says. “During the ‘Lazurus’ cycle, we were already writing songs for ‘The Papercut Chronicles II.’ So for me, it’s been pretty much nonstop since ‘The Quilt,'” which came out 2008.
But Travie isn’t going to work his self to death. He says he’ll be ready to take a pause after the new tour, especially if they stay out on the road like they normally do. “If that’s the case,” he says of a 4 or 5 year tour, “I’ll be 34, 35 when it’s over. I think it’ll be time to take a break.”
Well deserved if you ask me, but let’s make sure that tour comes first.

I am just plain tired of this now. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dr. Dre[/lastfm], surprise, surprise, is taking a break from music. Before we get into this story, let me just ask, if you weren’t on a break from music for the last a lot of years, then what should we call all of this time you haven’t been making music? Hmm?
This surprising announcement comes after a recent announcement that Dre was heading back to the turntables. Does that count as a break from music? I apologize for all the sass, but this break means yet another delay in Dre’s latest album Detox.
Still, I understand his need to take a break, all things considered. “I’m gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I’ve been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I’ve ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks,” the West Coast legend told reporters. I just wish this announcement came after the release of his album.
Fortunately for fans, he isn’t hanging up his beat machine for good, “I’m never gonna stop music. It’s like air to me,” he added. “I’m gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family, until I get that itch to get back in.”
Fair enough, Dre. He’s also been spending a lot of time developing his new artists,[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Kendrick Lamar[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Slim the Mobster[/lastfm], so we know he’s still working on something.
Not to mention, there seems to be no slowing down when it comes to his line of headphones, Beats by Dre. He’s partnered with several celebs to make custom headsets for personal as well as commercial sale. One of his latest ventures teams him with super producer and DJ, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Guetta[/lastfm] on headphones geared towards DJs.
Hopefully the headphones will hold over your desire for new music. Yeah. Right.

[photogallerylink id=72602 align=left]If you can learn anything from Heartbreak Drake, it’s how to appeal to the ladies. And I don’t just mean from his music. This just in, Drizzy plans, no wait, dreams to release a fragrance and lifestyle line.
The OVO rapper has always favored his smelling senses, so it makes sense for him to release a fragrance and home products lines the one he describes, “I’m very obsessed with smell so I actually want to—my dream, to be honest with you, my goal, is to form a fragrance and lifestyle line like candles, incense, room spray, and fragrance,” he explained.
When you think about it, this should be right up Drake’s alley. Women, and this is science mind you, tend to focus on just about every other sense except sight when it comes to arousal and attraction. So here comes Drizzy with his new CD and an armful of candles and incense. Need I say more? The rest of the story would read like a Young Money love song.
But certainly, Drake has more reason than just girls to release a line of this sort, especially when his counterparts are making investments in their own labels, beverages, clothing lines and even credit cards. Or maybe he doesn’t but he does seem quite serious and determined to follow through with this venture. “I like Sephora for the store that I’d like to put it in,” he said. “So that’s a big thing for me. I’m actually working on it.”
But that’s just the beginning for the Toronto ladies man, he continued to list some other aspirations he has in mind, “You know, that paired with some acting, maybe, like, one album in there somewhere.”
I’m with it. I could totally see Drake in like Takers 2 or something. Maybe?
