I am just plain tired of this now. [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Dr. Dre[/lastfm], surprise, surprise, is taking a break from music. Before we get into this story, let me just ask, if you weren’t on a break from music for the last a lot of years, then what should we call all of this time you haven’t been making music? Hmm?
This surprising announcement comes after a recent announcement that Dre was heading back to the turntables. Does that count as a break from music? I apologize for all the sass, but this break means yet another delay in Dre’s latest album Detox.
Still, I understand his need to take a break, all things considered. “I’m gonna just wrap it up for a minute because I’ve been working on music for 27 years now and the longest I’ve ever been out of the studio in 27 years has been two weeks,” the West Coast legend told reporters. I just wish this announcement came after the release of his album.
Fortunately for fans, he isn’t hanging up his beat machine for good, “I’m never gonna stop music. It’s like air to me,” he added. “I’m gonna take a little bit of a break, enjoy some time with the family, until I get that itch to get back in.”
Fair enough, Dre. He’s also been spending a lot of time developing his new artists,[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Kendrick Lamar[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Slim the Mobster[/lastfm], so we know he’s still working on something.
Not to mention, there seems to be no slowing down when it comes to his line of headphones, Beats by Dre. He’s partnered with several celebs to make custom headsets for personal as well as commercial sale. One of his latest ventures teams him with super producer and DJ, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Guetta[/lastfm] on headphones geared towards DJs.
Hopefully the headphones will hold over your desire for new music. Yeah. Right.
