It’s not every day that our featured food truck of the week cooks up a fancy steak for us, but trust us, we’re not complaining!
Today, we’re going uber-gourmet with the Flatiron Truck.
But we’re not just noshing on red meat, we’re also going fresh with delicious farmers market produce!
Tim has established a significant career for himself in the food industry. He used to work at LA favorites Joe’s, The Hungry Cat, The Water Grill, and Wilshire, so cooking was nothing new to him when the Flatiron Truck launched this past March.
He’s always wanted to open up his own restaurant, but Tim decided to start off small and test out his concept on the truck first.
The mantra of the Flatiron Truck is farm-to-street food. This means Tim scours the local farmers markets in search of the freshest ingredients.
And while they always serve their namesake steak, the menu constantly rotates to reflect what is in season.
For example, today they also brought us challa french toast, pork burgers, and cauliflower tacos!
Time is of the essence, so Tim also incorporates high-end techniques like sous vide to cook the steaks fast on the truck.
Carson has his own sous vide set-up at home, so of course he geeked out when he heard that!
Congratulations to today’s winner! They and their entire office are getting hooked up with a delicious lunch!
