Nicki Minaj has been named Billboard’s “Rising Star” for 2011, as part of their Women In Music celebration to be held this Friday, December 2nd.
Today Last.fm Trends looks at her listeners and scrobbles to see what else 2011 has brought her.
The graph above (click to enlarge) shows the past two years for Nicki in terms of weekly listeners on Last.fm. Whilst 2010 saw the sharpest increases in her fanbase, 2011 has seen her hold on to those listeners more steadily, to end with an all time total of 13,938,988 plays from 849,763 listeners.
It’s “Super Bass” that has really pulled ahead as the breakout track of her year, and the numbers prove its catchiness. Whilst it only has around 5,000 more listeners than next-biggest track “Moment 4 Life”, it has more than double the scrobbles at 1,556,629 – being the only one of her tracks to break the million plays mark as yet.
