The Best New Artist nominees all had interesting reactions to their nominations. Likely favorite [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm] barely even referenced it while making her usual million tweets per day, and only mentioned her nomination when a follower asked her to.

Indie rock hero Justin Vernon, a.k.a. [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Bon Iver[/lastfm], pondered the difference between two seemingly identical awards which both have him nominated.
To answer his question, Song of the Year is awarded to the songwriter while Record of the Year is awarded to the performers and producers. In Vernon’s case, he is both for “Holocene.”
Rapper [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]J. Cole[/lastfm] had a simple reaction to his nomination for Best New Artist that wasn’t without excitement.
