[photogallerylink id=132971 align=right]A lot of people may want to try and take credit for the living pop legend that is [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga. [/lastfm]Once, D.C. rapper, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Wale[/lastfm] joked that he should be credited with her success because she was featured on his very first commercial single, “Chillin” back in 2009.
The operative word there is “joked,” and that’s what we think of Donald Trump‘s latest claim pertaining to Mother Monster. In his new book, “Time To Get Tough: Making America #1 Again,” the real estate tycoon asserts that a performance on his Miss USA pageant was a make or break moment for the artsy Gaga.
“Maybe” he begins “she became a star because I put her on the Miss Universe Pageant. It’s very possible, who knows what would have happened without it, because she caused a sensation. … I really believe I had at least something to do with it.”
Sure, Lady Gaga was thankful for every TV appearance she got the year she first broke, and every one since. But the strong fact of the matter is that most people don’t watch the Miss “anything” pageants anymore so saying that her success is directly related to Donald Trump or any one person or thing is just not likely.
For instance, did you remember that she even performed at all? Did you remember who hosted? (Jerry Springer and [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Mel B.[/lastfm] of the [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Spice Girls[/lastfm], by the way). What about who won? Probably not, huh?
The song Lady Gaga performed “Just Dance” was already racing up the charts when she performed it at Miss Universe, everything that came after is Gaga’s doing. Albeit with help from a team of talented individuals, but still The Donald has nothing to do with it.
