Celebrities often get to do things that normal people never have the chance to do. But next January the tables are turned because for the first time ever, daytime TV staple, The Price Is Right will host it’s first ever celebrity week. The week kicks off in true Cali-fashion, with the Doggfather himself, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Snoop Dogg[/lastfm] on Monday.
[photogallerylink id=133407 align=left]As with most ‘celebrity-edition’ shows, the celebs will be taking on contestants for good causes chosen by the celebs themselves. Snoop will be playing for his famed youth football league, Snoop Youth Football League (SYFL). His non-profit organization not only teaches the fundamentals of the sport but also the importance of teamwork, camaraderie, and education through football.
According to Executive Producer, Mike Richards, Snoop may have an edge on his Celeb counterparts that include, Jenny McCarthy, Neil Patrick Harris, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chris Daughtry[/lastfm] and supermodel Heidi Klum.
“It was a lot of fun to watch these celebs play our iconic games,” Richards told All Hip Hop in a statement. “Each one had their own unique strategy to win. Let’s just say Snoop knows more about the price of grocery items than you might think!”
You can tune into all the price-check madness starting Monday January 2nd though January 6th on CBS. The Price is Right is the longest running game show in TV history, and plans to keep the crown by continuing to evolve with the time.

If you are looking for something a little younger and more hip for New Year’s Eve than Dick Clark’s star-studded spectacular that features guests like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm], then turn your attention to MTV’s New Year’s extravaganza.
The MTV show will feature performances by up and coming young stars, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]J. Cole[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Mac Miller[/lastfm],[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Jason Derulo[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Selena Gomez[/lastfm] and perhaps even by host, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Demi Lovato[/lastfm].
[photogallerylink id=130453 align=right]Both J. Cole and Mac Miller have broken their personal bests in regards to record sales, each topping the album charts at different times this past year. While Cole recently reached the Gold mark on his album and lead single, “Work Out,” Miller was busy setting the indie standard when his debut album, Blue Slide Park, sold more than indie artist since 1995.
MTV touts their upcoming show as “the party of year. LIVE on MTV.”
“As another year comes to a close,” they write “we’re preparing to blast into 2012 with an explosive night of musical performances, special guests, and plenty of surprises,” according to MTV’s site.
Likely guests include the cast of their new shows (and old, a la Jersey Shore). AMP artists galore are expected to attend.
This year’s show also asks viewers to cast their votes for their Favorite Song of 2011 starting Wednesday December 15th and goes through December 29th.
If this sounds like your cup of tea, usher in the new year with MTV, if not Dick Clark is only a click away. And for the New Years pros, just watch both!
