[photogallerylink id=104427 align=left]This year could have easily been nicknamed “The Year of Adele” but the British soul singer is much to modest to accept such an honor. In fact [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Adele [/lastfm]has had a huge year that included breaking just about every record a person could break when it comes to selling albums.

Her second album, 21 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and stayed there for an unprecedented 13 weeks. Not to mention the album provided 2 massive radio hits in “Rolling in the Deep” and “Someone Like You.”

The singer broke 3 different Guiness World Records this year. She became the first solo female act in the UK to have 11 consecutive weeks at No. 1, beating [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Madonna[/lastfm], who held the top spot for 21 years, consequently. And the album 21 had the most cumulative weeks at No. 1. She was also the first UK artist to have two top 5 singles in the UK at the same time. She even broke [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]‘s digital album sales record which she set earlier in the year with The Fame. Of course, Gaga retook the lead with Born This Way, but Adele made her mark.

Adele’s album broke records held by some of the most influential, iconic, talented artists that the world has ever seen, and at the height of it all, Adele was struck with vocal chord issues that led to her canceling shows and eventually getting reparative surgery.

Luckily with the help of her fans’ support and a great medical and management team only a month after the surgery Adele is already warming up her vocal chords for another year of performing. Since her recovery the singer has made an effort to take care of her self and keeping us updated via her Twitter. Her doctors say they expect her to make a full recovery.

While she doesn’t plan on any new music for right now, she will be performing the hits we know and love her for. She also recorded and released a live concert album, Live at Royal Albert Hall, if you just can’t wait for her to get back here to L.A. No judgment, of course, we got our copy for the holidays!
