[photogallerylink id=128447 align=left][lastfm link_type="artist_info"]T.I.[/lastfm] spent most of 2011 behind bars. The Atlanta rapper was under lockdown for violating probation last year for gun charges that he got back in 2007.
A good amount of drama went down surrounding his release from prison. A stipulation of his release was that he could not perform any business actions or transactions while still technically in police custody. Apparently Tip breached this clause by allegedly having a VH1 camera crew on the private tour bus that was to take him from prison to the halfway house, in which he was to carry out the last 30 days of his sentence. So they sent him back to prison for the remainder of his sentence instead.
But once he was out, he was really out.
On September 30th of this year he hit the ground running. He even did a surprise performance with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Taylor Swift[/lastfm] in Atlanta within days of being released. Though he’s only been out for about 3 months we already have 3 new singles from his upcoming album Trouble Man, which he has slated for an ambitious yet tentative February release, and 2 music videos. We know he calls his label Grand Hustle, but this just takes the cake.
And please believe that he didn’t waste any of the time he spent in jail, it gave him plenty to write about. By the time we checked in with him, he already had 40 songs ready for the new album. This year he also released his first novel, an urban love story: Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets. Not to mention he already is in the works to expand the series.
He’s also mentioned writing a relationship book with his wife, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Tameka “Tiny” Harris[/lastfm]. Among the laundry list of projects T.I. has planned, he has also taken time out to develop his artists and spend time with his family, noting that his eldest son Domani is looking toward a career of rapping as well.
It’s clear that the Kang never sleeps. He’s also in the talking stages of a joint album with one of his artists, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]B.o.B.[/lastfm] And the best part is that we get to watch him manage it all on his reality TV show, The Family Hustle. He’s a wild man. Look for Trouble Man in 2012.
And if you can’t wait that long, check out the mixtape he’s dropping on New Years Eve!
