[photogallerylink id=135118 align=right][lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Katy Perry[/lastfm] used Twitter to back out of her first public appearance since splitting with Russell Brand. The “Kissed A Girl” singer was supposed to appear live at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles tonight, for which she was nominated, but decided against it last minute.
“Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS,” she tweeted.
She is nominated for 7 awards including Favorite Artist and Favorite Song for “E.T.”
Katy has been pretty hush hush since announcing her divorce from husband of 17 months, Russell Brand. But after so much gossip erupted around the news, Katy had to speak out a little, just to clear the air.
“I am so grateful for all the love and support I’ve had from people around the world. You guys have made my heart happy again,” she tweeted on Saturday, before directing her displeasure to the media gossip, “Concerning the gossip, I want to be clear that NO ONE speaks for me. Not a blog, magazine, ‘close sources’ or my family.”
She still has an appearance scheduled in Jakarta, Indonesia later this month. No word on if she’s dropped out or rescheduled that event yet.
The People’s Choice Awards are set to air on CBS on January 11th at 6 PM PST.
We hope she can bounce back soon, we are missing her already.

As you may have already heard, there was a good amount of drama surrounding the birth of little miss Blue Ivy Carter, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm] and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyonce[/lastfm]’s brand new baby girl.
[photogallerylink id=139388 align=right]Some reports say the bubbly new parents of Blue Ivy paid a whopping 1.3 million to get a whole wing of the hospital shut down for privacy and security, but the hospital outright denies that is the case. “The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true,” said Lenox Hill Hospital Executive Director Frank Danza.
What we know for sure is that early yesterday Beyonce and baby Blue snuck out of the New York hospital without even one paparazzi or innocent bystander snapping a picture of the new mother and baby.
The famous family reportedly dipped out of the scene swiftly with the help of a cavalcade of black SUVs and vans with blacked out windows that strategically blocked exit doors, traffic, and street views so Bey could easily sneak away.
One eye witness reported on the professional execution of the event. “Immediately, security personnel began leaving the hospital,” they said, describing the exit as “very precise, very military-like.”
Clearly these measures were taken to prevent Blue from becoming a price tag for some magazine and of course, because she deserves privacy like any other new mom and family.
Guess this means we have to wait for them to release the pictures themselves. We cannot wait!

Coachella is promising to be one of the most epic events in music this year with a lineup that makes every music-lover want to do a happy dance then pay the almost 400 dollar ticket price on this year’s desert music festival.
[photogallerylink id=133407 align=right]Sunday night’s headliners are none other that California OGs Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, who will undoubtedly unleash old school hip hop classics on the concertgoers the last day of the festival on both weekends.
This year’s festival will be split between two different weekends to accommodate the massive fan base the festival has gained in recent years and to prevent another 1-day sellout that the festival encountered in 2011.
We are very excited about this year’s line up. It’s got rockers, rappers, hip-hoppers, DJs, and just plain good music. For the full line up check here.
This year’s festival will be on the weekends of April 13-15 and April 20-22nd. Tickets go on sale at $395 on Friday, January 13th at 10am PST on Coachella.com.
