[photogallerylink id=118735 align=right][lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Guetta[/lastfm] is arguably the most popular EDM DJ right now. Turning his house music mixing skills into certified pop hits and club bangers with some of today’s most talented musicians, we now look to him as a pioneer of the new dance sound.
Most of the artists Guetta has worked with he’s known prior to their joint success working together. Like he knew [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Usher[/lastfm] long before “Without You” went Number 1. But for Young Money first lady, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Nicki Minaj[/lastfm], whom Guetta worked with on “Where Dem Girls At?” and most recently the smash “Turn Me On,” that wasn’t quite the case.
The 40-year-old French mixer spoke on when he first started working with Nicki, noting that she wasn’t that well known but blew him away when he looked her up. “At the time I started to be interested in working with Nicki she was not that known [beyond us artists] in Europe and she was just starting in the U.S. But then I went on the Internet and I saw one of Nicki’s video and I was like, ‘Wow…’,” he told The Boombox.
After that moment, Guetta was more than motivated to get in contact with Minaj, which was difficult because he didn’t even know her like that. “I usually never call artists because I would rather have them call me if they want to work with me. But I changed that for Nicki because I really wanted to work with her,” he said.
And it’s no question why, their first song, with assistance with Flo Rida, “Where Dem Girls At” caused quite a stir on charts, debuting at No. 14 and selling more than 160,000 copies in the first week. So their next song together took Nicki in a new direction and that paid off as well.
I’m sure AMP is playing “Turn Me On” right now even!
“…Nicki is very well-rounded… She has many different talents,” David said of Nicki Minaj.
His album Nothing But The Beat is available now. Her album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded is due Valentine’s day.
I wonder what their next song is going to sound like.

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ludacris [/lastfm]is backing off the frying pan for just a few moments to get back into his first passion: making music. The Atlanta rapper’s 8th studio album, Ludaversal is scheduled for a May 2012 release and promises a myriad of exciting new and some old collaboration.
[photogallerylink id=42968 align=left]Being that the album is nearing the halfway point, Luda spoke on the progress and process of the album making progress, “I get the beats together and I put out my ideas, so I’d say we’re maybe about 40 percent done,” the rapper told reporters. The first single is due out in March.
While Ludacris, born Christopher Bridges, has been secretive about many of the guests on the album he did reveal one big collaboration on his new project, “Usher is one person that I’ve already worked with,” he said. “In terms of other artists, you can say that there’s going to be a lot of surprises on here.”
Surely the duo hope to duplicate the success of their biggest hit together, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Usher[/lastfm]’s 2004 hit “Yeah,” which has become an unforgettable American classic.
They should probably call Lil Jon.
Keep an eye out for Ludaversal. AMP will keep you posted on Luda’s progress!

With Blue Ivy Carter just days old, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beyonce[/lastfm] is already back to business. We shouldn’t have expected any less from the driven pop star. Just yesterday Bey released a brand new iPhone and iPad app called “Beyonce: Live at Roseland.”
[photogallerylink id=132665 align=right]The Apple product oriented application allows viewers to see performance clips, rare photos and exclusive behind-the-scenes and from-the-stage footage of the Beyonce’s sold out New York City shows last August at the Roseland Ballroom.
But that’s not all, the new app also gives access to bonus video content, including ‘Behind the Stage’ from Roseland and ‘Behind the Camera’ from Beyonce’s music videos.
This sort of ‘All Access” pass being offered on one of today’s newest mediums: Apps, is a first for a number of reasons and demonstrates exactly why Beyonce has staying power.
“Offering all of these materials in an app represents an industry first and demonstrates again why Beyonce is a music and entertainment industry visionary,” says Brent Brookler, CEO and founder, Treemo Labs who helped make the app possible. “We’re extremely fortunate to have been able to work with her and her team on this project.”
If you don’t have an i-something to play Beyonce’s fancy new app, you can always grab the DVD she released of the events in any store that sells DVDs.
Looks like[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”] Jay-Z[/lastfm]’s business sense is rubbing off on Queen Bey. The future is looking so bright.
