Etta James Passes At Age 73
We know that not everyone here is familiar with the legendary singer, but all of you have heard her amazing voice on AMP Radio whether you realize it or not. Etta James is sampled on Flo-Rida’s “Good Feeling,” but her music history spans long before this hit.
Her contribution to the music industry is one filled with original music, soulful melodies, and rich, authentic tunes that have left a legacy unlike most will achieve in their lifetime.
Etta’s career accomplishments include winning six GRAMMY awards, 17 Blues Music Awards, being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1993, the Blues Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Grammy Hall of Fame in both 1999 and 2008. Rolling Stone magazine also ranked her at #22 of their 100 Greatest Singers of All Time and #62 of 100 Greatest Artists.
After battling Leukemia for the past year, Etta James passed away today in a hospital in Riverside.
