Lest you’ve forgotten about Kanye West’s plans to make the “world” his “office” with his creative endeavor Donda, Yeezy might be planning a trip to the Persian Gulf to make a movie similar to 2010’s Runaway clip.

Only with, as one could easily imagine, hyperpolitical meaning.

[pullquote quote="His reps seemed genuinely enthusiastic about creating a piece which highlights the culture accurately...There's a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes about Emiratis and Qataris, which Westerners often play up. They discussed how Kanye is looking to bridge the cultural divide and break misconceptions."]According to a source who talked to the New York Observer, “A bidding war is going on between various government entities and private investors to fund the film. There’s pretty intense rivalry here between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Qatar. They all want to claim the film as their own and take credit for generating the publicity.”

So, West will have financiers vying for credit on his film, but what about the film thematically?

“His reps seemed genuinely enthusiastic about creating a piece which highlights the culture accurately,” said the source.  “There’s a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes about Emiratis and Qataris, which Westerners often play up. They discussed how Kanye is looking to bridge the cultural divide and break misconceptions.”
