Here at AMP Radio, we’re gearing up for the Super Bowl. We’ve already made our bets and debated about who’s the hottest quarterback, but now it’s time to get to the most pressing issue…the grub!

We’re getting an early start to the gorging fest today during Food Truck Friday with our buddies from The Greasy Wiener!

Seriously, what’s more American than football and hot dogs?

Owner Adam and marketing guru Ruth stopped by AMP today to serve up their crispy wieners! (Pun sort of intended.)

Take a listen to how The Greasy Wiener got its start:

For The Greasy Wiener, it’s all about capturing the authentic flavor of a New Jersey hot dog.

The all-beef wieners are custom-made by a local German family that specializes in quality dogs. They are fried and then placed on a steamed bun.

This gives the hot dog a really delicious crunch that’s actually not greasy at all!

Adam is a New Jersey native and he was inspired to start The Greasy Wiener when one of his co-workers dared to say that Tucson’s Sonoran hot dogs were the best in the world.

Adam set out to prove him wrong by opening up a hot dog cart near the University of Arizona. He later expanded to a full-fledged truck here in LA in March of 2010 and the rest is history.

When it comes to toppings, the sky’s the limit at The Greasy Wiener.

The original Greasy Wiener is your classic dog with saut’eed onions, mustard, and a pickle wedge, but their other creations are a little more daring, featuring chicken apple sausage, bacon, and chilli!

And don’t you fret, vegetarians…The Greasy Wiener has a special dog just for you!

This feast was so delicious, Carson couldn’t help but share it with one of our loyal listeners. Shout out to today’s winner…they won a free lunch for their entire office!

Yes, that’s how we roll for Food Truck Friday. Listen next week for another chance to win with Carson!
