“Live fast, die young. Bad girls do it well.” This is how obsessed I am with M.I.A: In 2005, I dressed up like the alternative pop star for Halloween.
Seven years later and a month doesn’t go by where I am not re-listening to all of her albums back-to-back and wishing I had her wardrobe.
So, with the release of M.I.A’s new video for “Bad Girls” shot in Quarzazate, Morocco and directed by Romain Gavras, this is probably the best day of the week, maybe even the year for me.
Now where can I get a super-hip polka-dot burka?
[pullquote quote="It was dope to have so many people from so many different backgrounds speaking so many different languages come together to create something that we believed in."]In a statement about the video, the 36-year-old singer said, “It was dope to have so many people from so many different backgrounds speaking so many different languages come together to create something that we believed in.”
“I thought I was gonna die on the shoot when I saw the drifting,” M.I.A continued. “It was a four day shoot so everyone was on edge the whole time specifically ME when I had to do bluesteel singing to the camera while the cars did doughnuts on the wet road 10 feet away. In my mind I was thinking how I was gonna deliver the video to Vice with no legs.”
seriously where can get a bag a swag in this town ?—
