Even though Madonna is dubbed the Queen of Pop, Marilyn Monroe is still America’s sweetheart. Nicki Minaj, who often vacillates between moments of toughness and tenderness, seems to have a kinship with the platinum-blonde bombshell as evidenced by her new track “Marilyn Monroe” from Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
The song is different than anything Minaj has done before: vulnerable, girlie, emotional, poignant. It might trip diehard Harajuku Barbie lovers up, but the song will definitely attract a different kind of pop listener.
