’21’ By Adele Spends 19th Week At Number One
English singer Adele had an amazing year in 2011 and the success seems to be rolling into 2012.
Adele’s album 21 has spent its 19th week at number one. The album includes the breakout song of last year “Rolling in the Deep,” as well as “Set Fire to the Rain” and “Someone Like You.”
21 was released around this time last year and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts. It peaked at number one on nearly every chart worldwide, including in France, Germany, Italy and Australia, and has sold over 17 million albums globally.
21 is up for several Grammy Awards this year, including Record of the Year (“Rolling in the Deep”), Album of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance (“Someone Like You”).
She cancelled part of her tour last year amid vocal cord trouble but will be performing at the Grammy Awards this weekend.
Adele, whose full name is Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, is said to have recorded the album in 2009 after the end of an 18 month relationship.
