Editors note: While this post IS from two years ago, we’ve added a couple of bonus spots, and we still strongly feel that our choices from the past ring true for the present. Enjoy!

We’re rapidly approaching Valentine’s Day and if you’re in a relationship, there’s lots of pressure to plan the perfect date.

Luckily for us, we live in Southern California, which is chock-full of scenic beauty and intimate activities.

So if you are still stumped on where to take your honey, check out our picks for the most romantic places to celebrate your love!

Griffith Observatory

2800 East Observatory Road
Los Angeles, CA 90027

There’s nothing like staring at the stars to get you feeling all mushy.

Head on up to Griffith Observatory for not only some star-gazing action, but stunning views of Downtown, the Hollywood sign, and the ocean.

Malibu Beach

Zuma Beach
30000 Pacific Coast Highway
Malibu, CA 90265

If you’re the outdoorsy type, then grab a bikini and trek over to Malibu. It’s a little off the beaten path, making it more intimate than other crowded beaches, plus, you just can’t beat the sunsets.

In the mood for some dolphin sightings? One of our favorites spots is Zuma Beach.

Getty Center

1200 Getty Center Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90049

If you’re the kind of couple who likes a little culture, then the Getty Center is a great option.

What will you find there? Priceless art, impressive architecture, and gorgeous gardens.

Plus, admission is FREE. Parking is $15, so we’d call that one cheap date!

Disneyland

1313 S. Disneyland Drive
Anaheim, CA 92802

For a truly magical evening, The Happiest Place On Earth is a pretty safe bet.

Hang with Mickey, snuggle during the nightly fireworks show, and don’t forget to take a picture in front of the castle with your matching mouse ears…adorable!

Rodeo Drive

Rodeo Drive
Beverly Hills, CA 90210

Sure, to boys this may not seem like the most obvious choice, but when us ladies think of Beverly Hills, the ultimate chick flick Pretty Woman comes to mind!

Take a leisurely stroll down the streets hand in hand with your sweetheart. Trust us, even if you’re just window shopping, it still feel super glamorous.

And there’s plenty of jewelry stores if you plan on doing any ring shopping…hint, hint!

Naples Island Gondola

Naples Island, CA 90803
www.gondolagetawayinc.com

Not all of us can afford a trip to Venice, Italy, but we could at least save up enough for a romantic gondola ride right here in the aptly-named Naples, CA.

Cruise through the stunning canals courtesy of a strapping young gentleman in a striped shirt and don’t forget to kiss underneath every bridge!

Huntington Botanical Gardens

1151 Oxford Road
San Marino, CA 91108

Sure, you could always buy your lady a bouquet of roses, but why not just take her to an entire garden?

The botanical gardens at the Huntington Library are home to more than 14,000 varieties of plants and it’s a great place to get in touch with nature while also catching some rays.

Santa Monica Pier

200 Santa Monica Pier
Santa Monica, CA 90401

Act like a kid again and take a trip on over to the Santa Monica pier. It’s your one-stop shop for carnival fun.

Play some games, win a stuffed animal, and ride the Ferris wheel with your Valentine!

Catalina Island

Avalon, CA 90704
www.catalinachamber.com

If a day trip is more your style, Catalina Island may do the trick.

You can take guided tours through the wilderness, check out the historic casino, or get gorgeous view of it all by para-sail.

Ferries depart from Long Beach, San Pedro, Dana Point, Newport Beach, and Marina del Rey and it takes less than an hour to get there.

Temecula Valley Wine Country

Temecula, CA
www.temeculawines.org

For those of you who are of age, Temecula’s a great area to go wine touring, especially if you don’t have the time to make it up to Napa.

Reserve a hot air balloon ride for you and your better half. If that doesn’t win them over, we don’t know what will!

BONUS SPOT

Old Town Pasadena

If you haven’t strolled along this area of Pasadena, you’re missing out. It’s 22 blocks of pure delight with cafes, art galleries, and so many other wonderful things to check out.
