In another bizarre twist of musical fate, Adele‘s album 21 has tied today with [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Whitney Houston[/lastfm]‘s stellar number of 20-weeks-running on the charts for The Bodyguard soundtrack.

After Adele’s gorgeous Grammy performance after months of not singing, Adele is primed to be sitting pretty at the top of the charts for another season.

According to PopDust, once Adele “passes The Bodyguard,” she’ll have to beat Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever at 24 weeks and West Side Story at 54 weeks–the album which spent the longest time at number one.

Notice a trend? They’re all soundtracks. Maybe that should be Adele’s next venture into music. Just a billion dollar suggestion.

You heard it here first.
