Muhammad Ali might have been known to “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee,” but at his 70th birthday soiree this weekend, graceful pop singer, [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Kelly Rowland[/lastfm], showed that she “floats like a butterfly” and sings like a beautiful nightinale.
Accompanied by legend [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Stevie Wonder [/lastfm]on piano, Rowland covered Whitney Houston’s 1986 “The Greatest Love of All” which was originally recorded by George Benson for the 1977 Muhammad Ali biopic The Greatest.
According to Rap-Up, Rowland said about Houston: “I remember the first time I met her, she was just such an angel and so supportive and had great words of encouragement to say about the music industry. To meet such an icon and a legend like her, you’re just like, ‘I was in her presence.’”
I am beyond heartbroken. Whitney Houston was undoubtedly one of the greatest singers & performers of all time & such a huge influence on me.—

She embraced me when I first started out with Destiny's Child, with love, with encouragement and with that powerhouse voice.—

My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to her daughter, her mother and to all of her loved ones.—
