Ok folks its time for another lesson in Sample This” and this time we are going to show  Cali some love.

We have yet to talk about a song in which the lyrics display the love for California so with that being said what better song to talk about than [lastfm link_type=""]2Pac [/lastfm]and [lastfm link_type=""]Dr Dre [/lastfm]“California Love“.

Its hard to believe that “California Love” came out over a decade ago with all the radio play the song stills continues to get but that is what you call a legit classic.

California Love was sampled from blues/rock singer [lastfm link_type=""]Joe Cocker[/lastfm] and his 1972 single “Woman to Woman.

Cocker is mostly known for his band [lastfm link_type=""]“The Grease Band[/lastfm]” which toured around the world in the 1970’s and their performance at Wood Stock Festival. If you’ve ever watched the re-runs to  the popular 1990’s  television show “The Wonder Years” he is responsible for the theme music.

“California Love” was one of  [lastfm link_type=""]2pac[/lastfm]‘s best known hits around the world and reached #1 on the billboard for two weeks.

This song also was nominated for Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 1997. California Love is considered California’s anthem and continues to trickle down from generation to generation.
