She swept her categories at this year’s Grammy Awards, she has a huge new house in the UK, and she is happily in a relationship with a man she says she loves. So what could be rocking the quaint little world that Adele’s record breaking album, 21, built?
Well, just her estranged father.
Adele spoke candidly with Vogue magazine about her father who abandoned the songbird and her mum when she was just three-years-old. Her father, Mark Evans, hadn’t said much to Adele by the time she was on the cusp of record-shattering success, but once she got there he was more than happy to sell her story to the highest bidder.
“I was actually ready to start trying to have a relationship with him again. He’s f**king blown it. He will never hear from me again,” Adele told Vogue, adding that it’s not the press that bothered her, but the fact that he added fuel to the fire.“Because there is nothing that would upset me more than my dad being bribed by the press. It’s like, ‘Just let them run it, then. Don’t you give them ammunition.’”
But she didn’t stop there, the topic had Adele fuming and by the end she had said a mouthful! “It makes me angry! To come back after ten years and be like, ‘Maybe her problem with men comes down to me.’ It’s like, ‘F**k off! How dare you comment on my life?’ It makes my blood boil.”
Also, and rightfully so, she’s upset that instead of coming to her with his thoughts and feelings about her career and history with men, he told them to a tabloid. “There’s consequences other than just getting a bit of f**king money that lasts you half a year. It blows my mind,” she said. “‘I love her so much.’ Really? Why are you telling me that through a newspaper?” she ranted.
But if they ever do meet again, trust, you will hear about it.
“If I ever see him, I will spit in his face.”
