Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” Deemed Pretentious By NME, Eye Rolls Ensue
Oh internet/music industry. You are always finding ways to make the Little Monsters whip out their pitchforks and generate readership of your magazine by the sheer amount of opposition by the most followed person on Twitter, Lady Gaga.
British magazine, NME, known for it’s own kind of “pretentious” music fodder, decided to include Mother Monster’s Born This Way on a list of the “10 Most Pretentious Albums Ever.”
Umm. A totally dance-able pop album with a heart of gold? Are they cray?
According to NME writer Priya Elan, on “Born This Way, [Gaga] seemed to believe in her own hype, convinced she had a message to share. Cue an album of unwieldy ‘anthems’ that couldn’t mask the fact that the fun had left the building…Did electroclash die for this?”
Oh the irony of winning "Most Pretentious Album Ever" from none other than NME. *eyeroll* I might laugh forever + then return to narcissism—

In a rare showing of her annoyance, Gaga doesn’t seem amused.
