Losing [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Whitney Houston[/lastfm] was a shock to all of us.

In fact, a lot of people have still not fully mourned the lost of a star like Whitney, but it’s comforting to know that someone was already working on a project to remember her greatness and contributions to the entertainment industry even before she passed away.

The Clive Davis-led biopic about Whitney has been in the works for some time now. And as for casting Whitney, there are many choices, but it looks like Rihanna is the front runner.

People like [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jennifer Hudson[/lastfm], [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jordin Sparks[/lastfm], who worked with Houston on her final film, “Sparkle,” have all been mentioned as possible candidates. And [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brandy[/lastfm] has even said in the past that it’s her dream to play Whitney, but Clive Davis, her mentor and music executive, thinks that Rihanna has the spunk to play Whitney.

We can’t help but wonder what Houston thought about the project and the actress who should play her, considering that she did know and “was excited” to see it come to fruition, a source said.

Critics say Rihanna, who will make her big screen debut as Sergeant Raikes in the upcoming action film, “Battleship,” is too inexperienced as an actress to take on such an involved role. They may be right, but wouldn’t that just be wild? Rihanna as Whitney!

Honestly, they should probably go the unknown route, a la “The Blind Side” or even “Selena” (heck, we didn’t know or care about J. Lo before that one, real talk!).

Whitney’s voice and face are too iconic for another famous pop star to pull off with their own image, we would forever compare her to Whitney, and ain’t nobody beating Whitney!
