AMP Music Minute: Dream And Jay-Z Pacing Themselves On New Music, Wiz Khalifa Says He’s Gonna Make $100 Million This Year And Adam Levine Talks Decsion To Do ‘Voice’

[photogallerylink id=3692 align=left] The man responsible for many of the hits you still love, Terius “The-Dream” Nash, has made hit songs for the likes of Rihanna, Beyonce, and Justin Beiber to name a few. But now the R&B expert is working with one of the kings of hip hop on new music. Dream and Jay-Z have been on and off again in the studio for sometime now, but don’t try rushing this magic.

As a writer he’s been involved in some of the most influential songs in the last decade like “Single Ladies” and “Umbrella.” Certainly the fact that he was responsible for adding to Jay-Z’s success, as well as his wife’s allotted him the privilege to work with Hov. In his latest interview with Vibe magazine, he dishes on the upcoming grooves.

“We’ve already done something, we’ve done a couple things,” The-Dream told the magazine but failed to elaborate. When urged, he responded, “It’s coming, can’t rush the wine. Whenever he wants to do it, that guy, you never know.”

So while Dream waits on Jay to finish up, we will wait here for both of them so we can get some of that new fiyah! But really, when I think of Dream on a hip hop track, it’s hard not to think of Drake. And that’s so NOT Jay-Z.

What could they be up to?

[photogallerylink id=135642 align=right]Last year, Wiz Khalifa made headlines when he graced the Forbes Magazine‘s  Richest Rapper list at No. 11, raking in about 11 Million in touring, merchandise, and album sales. This year, he intends to expand his money exponentially. As in make 10-times what he made last year. Yes, you read correctly, Young Khalifa claimed he will make $100 million in 2012 and his new mixtape, Taylor Allderdice, will be the catalyst.

While at the listening party for his new mix tape, the Taylor Gang general sounded off on his lofty goals.”Oh yeah, man, I’m going to make $100 million this year,” he said. “No doubt, $100 million. The new mixtape [will] get everybody ready and get their wallets open.”

Banking $100 million on the buzz of a free mix tape sounds like a crazy idea, but have you seen Wiz? That’s exactly the kind of idea a guy like that has: out there! But we like his ambition.

Still, when you break down the numbers and factor in that Jay-Z only netted 37 million last year and he was at the TOP of the list, it seems like the Taylor Gang still has a ways to go.  But hey, make your way up that list, Wiz. No hating over here!

Adam Levine had a lot of people ask him what he was doing when he decided to join The Voice. But he also says he took it to mean he must “be doing something right” and I think we’d all agree, that’s true.

Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine likes to take the road less traveled, and that’s part of how he ended up on one of America’s new favorite shows, “The Voice.”

He freely admits that a lot of people criticized his decision to join the show but he took their negativity as a positive. “A musician’s life is constantly filled with people saying, ‘Why are you doing this?'” he said. “I’m a fan of people saying that because it must mean I’m doing something right. I’ve never been a fan of the cookie-cutter way of life. I liked that this was spiking something new into what I do.”

And Adam has certainly found his own niche on the show, coaching the winner of the first season, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Javier Colon[/lastfm]. Fortunately, Colon is enjoying his success. Recently he got to ball so hard in the NBA All Star weekend celebrity game  and will embark on a tour that begins in just days. But even though Javier is starting to make it, Adam says he never had and still doesn’t have a strategy.

“I don’t really strategize as much as I want the right people to sing the right songs the right way and to have the right moment to hopefully increase their chances of moving forward because that’s my job on the show,” he said. “I’m there to help people be fully realized and have people see the best versions of who they are.”

Well, whatever you are doing, keep it up!
