Katy Perry: ‘Part of Me’ Not About Russell
The 27-year-old “Teenage Dream” singer wants to set the record straight about her latest single, “Part of Me,” which she officially unveiled at this year’s Grammy Awards. While she agrees that the subject matter seems relevant to now, Katy says that she wrote this song 2 years ago; way before breaking up with Russell Brand.
In fact, the song first surfaced two months after the former couple got married back in 2010. Katy wanted to keep it “100” and spilled on the son’g history, despite the lack of drama. “I wrote it two years ago, which is funny because everybody is like ‘God, it sounds so current,’ “ she recently told MTV News. “And some people that I work with were like ‘You should just say you wrote it a couple of weeks ago.’ I’m like ‘I’m not a d—, I’m going to tell the truth.’ “
Katy also revealed the precarious timing of her new song’e release. “I always planned to put it out in the spring of this year, to possibly perform it at a big [awards show], but sometimes I’m like ‘Am I living in ‘The Truman Show?’ … what’s going on?’ ” she said.
With all the talk about the Illuminati and other conspiracy theories, this story fits right into that weird little niche…
Cee-Lo Green Announces Las Vegas Residency
The Voice’s most eccentric judge is about to embark on quite a run at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. Following in the footsteps of greats like The Blue Man Group, Celine Dion, Elton John and even David Copperfield, Cee-Lo will headline his very own show for the last quarter of the year…so far.
He makes his debut on August 29th and currently has shows scheduled up until December 29th. In his circus-themes extravaganza, Cee-Lo will play the part of conductor/ringmaster “Lobarace,” and takes the audiences on a journey through some of music’s most magical moments. Given Green’s eclectic style, it’s no surprise that the music follows suit showcasing tunes from Prince, Blue Magic, the Rolling Stones and everywhere in between.
Clearly grateful for the opportunity, Cee-Lo had only positive things to say about his partners. “Planet Hollywood was established by fellow artists, actors, entertainers, my peers; and they’ve proven to know a thing or two about the art of being an entrepreneur,” said Cee Lo. “I am very fortunate to have Planet Hollywood as a partner, allowing me to further extend and embellish on the brand that is Cee Lo Green.”
We can dig it.
Usher Talks Upcoming Album and Movie Role
The word consistent can only begin to describe the projects Usher Raymond involves himself in. When you factor in his enormous record sales and the fact that he has mentored Justin Bieber to the top of the ‘Tween charts, he is seemingly one of the biggest pop stars around. Expect another sound musical project from him this year. But more interestingly, look for him in an upcoming feature film.
The R&B superstar was vague about both his album and upcoming movie role. Point of fact, he didn’t offer many specific details to be excited about in regards to the album, only saying “It will be out this year.” But fortunately, he had some breaking news about this new movie he’s in. “I got some breaking news I want to share with you,” he said. “There is an incredible role I’m getting ready to play. It’s something that everybody is going to love.”
He mentioned also that he’d be playing “an icon of our time” and instructed fans to head to his “Myspace” (what! is it 2002?- he meant Facebook and Twitter) for more updates.
As of press time, there haven’t been any updates. But AMP will keep you in the loop!
