Jay-Z Prepping Concept Album, Still Considering Watch The Throne 2

Hov is known for his incredible mind. The way he can put words together and tell stories; it’s complex, yet simple enough to reach the average listener. He’s genius at it. So it should be no surprise that his engineer and producer, Young Guru tells us he’s hard at work on a new concept-like album.

“It’s a concept that I can’t talk about but I’m marveled at how smart this guy is,” he told Complex “When he told me the concept, I was like ‘Why didn’t I think of that?’ It was just so simple. It’s not a concept album though. It’s not like ‘American Gangster,’ it’s not a Beatles concept album. It has a concept and a title, and the title and the concept fit him so well that people are going to be like ‘Wow.'”

We can’t remember the last time we heard a Jay-Z rhyme and didn’t think “Wow,” but we totally get the idea. As for you The Throne (Jay-Z & Kanye West) fans, get excited because Jay hasn’t taken the idea of a Watch The Throne 2 off the table at all. According to Guru that remains a real possibility.

“It’s been talked about but hasn’t been executed yet. Definitely could happen.” Guru said before qualifying it with his two cents on how the duo should handle their upcoming releases. “A lot of artists just say s— too but if you think about it, this is just my opinion, the way I would like it to go-I would like Kanye to do the G.O.O.D. Music album and Jay-Z to do a solo album then they go out and tour and do all that shit and then next year, or the end of the year, we get ‘Watch the Throne 2.’ To me, that would be the best thing to happen. I think the G.O.O.D. Music album is necessary for Kanye to establish that brand because they need to establish [themselves].”

They don’t call him a “Guru” for no reason…

Akon Facing Lawsuit From Former Lawyers

Lawsuits suck! But the only thing that could suck more than being sued, is being sued by lawyers. Unfortunately, this is exactly the situation Akon has found himself in.

There isn’t too much info about the case as of yet but what we do know is that the lawyers who filed the suit claim that Akon hired their firm last year but then dipped out when it was time to pay their small fee of $39,363.74 for their services.

In response, the African-born pop singer filed a counter suit claiming there was no basis for the original claim.

Ooooh, drama!

Katy Perry Looking To Make ‘Artistic” Third Album

With Katy Perry’s new song, “Part of Me” burning up the charts, it’s clear that the singer isn’t all bubble gum and cotton candy. She’s got a lot of things to say and she’s good at saying them (that’s why we listen), so for her third album expect a different sound.

As her single is proving, we still like Katy when she’s being a little more emotional, and she’s hoping to capitalize on her fans understanding her need to stretch out as an artist. But before she gets into making the album, it all starts with an idea. “I don’t want to jinx myself ’cause I haven’t stepped into the studio. I have an idea — I always have an idea. Like, I have an idea for the next two records; it just depends,” Perry told MTV. “What I say is, I’m gonna kind of put my finger out there and test the pulse or test the waters of what the world wants, or what I need to say, which is probably most important rather than what the world wants.”

Katy wants to reach out though, but is conscious of the business side of the industry, so she doesn’t plan on going way out there. “I imagine that maybe my next record would be a little bit more of an artistic venture,” Perry said. “Not that I’m going to self-sabotage either and be like, ‘I’m going to make a crazy record that nobody really understands.’ “
