AMP Music Minute March 8th
Jay-Z Will Stream SXSW Set On YouTube-
There’s good news and then there’s even better news! First, the good: Jay-Z will be returning to famed Austin music festival, South by Southwest. He’s got a set scheduled on March 8th at the AMEX Sync Show. Now, the better news is that the whole world wide web is invited to see it all go down. Live.
Teaming up with American Express certainly has it’s benefits, especially for cardholders. Apparently the credit company set up unlockable exclusive offers that download after using specific hashtags on Twitter. Very futuristic. Cardholders would, of course, have to sync their cards to their Twitter handles.
It’s not clear whether Jay-Z is involved in the business side of this event, but it could easily be right up his alley.
You can stream the show, which is at 8PM EST on March 8th, at YouTube.com/AmericanExpress. There will be a special rebroadcast available on demand from March 13th to March 19th at www.Twitter.com/americanexpress, www.YouTube.com/AmericanExpress and on Xbox LIVE.
And one more thing: HASHTAG: #JayZSyncShow
See you at the Jay-Z show!
Far East Movement Anounce New Album Date-
The band that brought us such dope hits as “Like a G6,” “Rocketeer,” are back with a brand new album on the horizon. Far-East Movement titled the album Dirty Bass to instruct listeners how to enjoy the music. The album should be out this summer, just in time to rock all your pool parties and cook outs.
FM announced May 8th as the day their fourth album should drop. It will of course feature lead single, “Live My Life” which is assisted by teen hearthrob, Justin Bieber. The quartet had nothing but good things to say about working with the Biebs.
In a video interview, FM disussed the challenges they faced in working with a guy like Justin.”The dude is a talented dude. He’s grown up, everybody sees that. For us, we wanted to do something different. We got in with producer RedOne to make this club song and we said, ‘We wanna make a song that bridges that gap between the young audience and our audience, or the club audience that pops bottles and gets crazy. That’s a challenge.”
The Los Angeles-based band also said they have videos in the works. One is for their lead single and the other is the Party Rock Anthem Remix they did with LMFAO’s Redfoo.“The ‘Live My Life’ Party Rock music video is going to be bananas,” Far East Movement member Kev Nish told Billboard. “It’s definitely a party you won’t want to miss.”
He’s right. We don’t!
Kanye West Brought Out A-List For Paris Fashion Show-
Kanye West isn’t a newbie at Paris Fashion week anymore after last year’s debut. So with the critics off his back, he was able to put all his focus into his new line. Luckily, he had all his famous friends in his corner to cheer him on.
Yeezy made a showing for not only fashion’s elite critics, but his fall/winter, ready-to wear line was also exhibited to some of music’s highest A-listers. Diddy, Cassie, Swizz Beats, Alicia Keys, Big Sean, Common, and even Vogue head honcho Anna Wintour all made face-time at Kanye’s runway.
Before the event, ‘Ye spoke to WSJ about his venture into design. “I learned a lot from the last one,” he told the newspaper. “I’m learning every day. I’m a new designer. I’m taking baby steps.”
And it seems to be paying off. While there have yet to be overwhelmingly rave reviews of Kanye’s sophomore line, everyone seems to be a consensus that he at least did much better! “Kanye West collection: a better sophomore effort. Clothes mostly fit! But must every garment be made from a pelt?,” one writer Tweeted.
