Earlier this morning, Carson was getting on Producer Angie’s case for inviting another hot dog truck to Food Truck Friday, but hey, we can’t help it that hot dogs are delicious and everyone wants to serve to them us!
Even Carson and his high cholesterol count couldn’t resist, so you know it’s delicious!
Mike came up with the idea to start selling hot dogs way back in the early 2000s when he was bar tending in NYC.
Eventually, he moved across the country, settling down right here in Santa Monica, and became the general manager for a local hotspot.
He ended hiring Jonathan to work the door and the two struck up a partnership together to create Dogtown Dogs.
The truck launched at the beginning of LA’s food truck craze in November of 2009.
We know some of you may be thinking, “What’s so difficult about making a hot dog.” Well, Dogtown Dogs has turned it into an art.
They describe their food as sophisticated variations of traditional favorites with an innovative spin and we couldn’t agree more.
Take their Morning Commute dog. They start with your basic wiener and bun, but then it’s wrapped in hardwood smoked bacon and topped with a fried egg. Yes, finally a hot dog that’s appropriate for breakfast!
The California Dog is a delicious choice if you’re looking for something a little more fresh. The dog comes with avocado, arugula, basil aioli, tomatoes, fried onions and a light vinaigrette.
But if you like to keep it real, the Trailer Trash dog is a slam dunk. This one comes with an all-beef dog that’s topped with chili, nacho cheese, and Frito’s corn chips!
All you vegetarians can take part in the fun as well. Besides their veggie portabello mushroom option, all the franks on their menu can be substituted for a soy dog.
