The San Fernando Valley!

Yes, there’s more to The Valley than a few freeway exits that are on the way to Six Flags!

There are tons of fantastic local businesses in The Valley and we thought it would be cool to give our readers a few tips on  where to shop, what to eat, and of course what to drink!

Eat

If you are nursing a hangover, you could stop in at one of the many Vallarta locations around town. V-mart, as some call it, is a Mexican supermarket that has some of the cheapest produce and meat anywhere! There’s also a taqueria inside that serves up some mean chilaquiles that will cure you in a jiffy! Chips, cheese, eggs, red sauce. Mmmm. Wash that down with a horchata and you’re golden.

Shop

How  ’bout some shopping? Real connoisseurs of fashion steer clear of typical shopping malls. It’s way more fun to hit up the thrift stores on Sherman Way! If you feel a bit peckish after sorting through piles of clothing looking for a perfect denim jacket, walk down the street to Miss Donuts. In case you didn’t know, an infamous scene from the movie Boogie Nights was filmed here. In fact, most of the film was done in and around The Valley!

After you’ve scored some majorly cool duds, venture over toward Northridge. You’ll find little gems like Orphaned CDs, a used CD store that has anything and everything. They even have an online store! You might stumble upon a confusing little place called King’s Burger/Got Sushi?. Don’t be alarmed.

You won’t find a spicy tuna burger and wasabi fries here. It’s just a classic burger joint with a Zagat rated but totally affordable sushi bar inside. The executive sushi chef is the legendary Jun Y. Cha. We’ve even heard rumors that he was Iron Chef Morimoto‘s apprentice! That’s probably as close to Kitchen Stadium as you’re gonna get, so you should definitely stop in!

Drink

To polish off your wonderful Valley adventure, stop in at Lee’s 4 Cocktail. It’s a totally awesome dive bar, and if you catch the happy hour, you’re in for a treat. $5 pitchers of Stella Artois.
