The Voice kicked off its first live episode with a bang last night with 12 incredible performances.
But that’s not the only thing everyone’s buzzing about!
That being said, we weren’t head over heels for Cee Lo Green’s new look…leave the toupee at home next time!
Yesterday, the contestants from Team Christina and Team Blake took to the stage.
TEAM BLAKE: RaeLynn, “Wake Up Call”
RaeLynn took a big risk by performing a Maroon 5 song just a few feet away from lead singer Adam Levine, but it paid off.
Levine said she broke his heart twice. First, when she didn’t choose to join his team and secondly, when she performed his song “so darn good.”
Christina called her a little sassy thing and coach Blake said all his celebrity friends were buzzing about her potential at Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards.
TEAM BLAKE: Jordis Unga, “Alone”
After a disappointing battle round, Jordis showed off her impressive rocker pipes yesterday.
Cee Lo loved the staging and Blake called described her fearless performance as “the opposite of playing safe.”
TEAM BLAKE: Erin Willett, “Living for the City”
It took a lot of inner-strength for Erin to take the stage so soon after her father passed away, but she pulled it together for a strong performance.
Cee Lo called Erin “a champion” with so much soul and charisma and her coach Blake dubbed it the best vocal performance of the night technically and passionately.
TEAM CHRISTINA: Lindsey Pavao, “Somebody That I Used To Know”
Things got a little freaky when the mimes stepped on the stage for Lindsey’s Gotye cover.
Luckily, the silky sound of her voice soothed our fears!
Lindsey put a dubstep spin on the hit song, but Adam was hoping to hear more power in the chorus section.
Coach Christina had nothing but praise for Lindsey, saying that she can’t wait to buy her album.
TEAM CHRISTINA: Jesse Campbell, “What A Wonderful World”
We thought it’d be impossible for Jesse to top his amazing battle round performance, but he continued to rise to the top of the pack last night.
Cee Lo joked that Jesse’s voice is almost as beautiful as his own hair and Adam Levine warned his team that Jesse is the one to beat.
Christina couldn’t have been prouder and was fiercely protective of her protege. She practically jumped down Adam’s throat when she thought he was going to give Jesse a negative critique!
The claws are coming out!
TEAM CHRISTINA: Moses Stone, “Stronger”
Christina is also mentor to the very first MC on The Voice.
Last night, Moses mixed things up while singing the chorus and rapping the verses, which completely divided the coaching panel.
Blake Shelton said it’s clear that Christina’s good influence is rubbing off onto Moses.
Adam said he thought Moses would be more successful as a singer, but Christina strongly disagreed saying she loves the way Moses raps and that he “does it all.”
Tonight, 3 competitors from both teams will be saved by America’s votes. The leftover 6 contestants will sing for their lives and their coach can only save one of them.
Oh, the drama!
Tune in at 8pm PT on NBC to find out who gets eliminated!
