Nicki Minaj ‘Irked’ by Lady Gaga Comparisons-
Mother Nicki has been making the rounds since her second album Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded dropped last week (and is already No.1 in the UK). In one of her most recent interviews, the Harajuku Barb sat down with ABC’s Nightline where she took on topics ranging from Lady Gaga to her biggest little fan, Sophia Grace and growing up in an abusive home. Interestingly enough, she seemed more peeved to talk about Gaga than her father’s violent outbursts.
The reporter led by asking whether or not the comparisons to Lady Gaga offended the diva, to which she responded, “Offend me? No. Irks me? Yeah,” responded Nicki. “Because we are in completely different lanes.”
Looking for more depth, the reporter pushed Nicki to explain the differences. “First of all, I’m a rapper. First of all, I’m from Southside Jamaica, Queens, and I could say some really crazy lyrics right now, but I won’t,” after that she turned the tables on the reporter and asked if she could give any examples of how her and Lady Gaga were comparable.
The reporter first tried saying their use of wigs, to which Nicki cleared up that “every female in this game wears wigs.” Moving on the reporter tried “over the top outfits.” Nicki pursed her lips and responded with “Ehh” mimicking a buzzer sound. “Try again,” her Minajesty said coyly.
We know Nicki isn’t going to let herself get put into a box, especially one occupied by someone else already. In an earlier interview with MTV, when asked about how she compared to Gaga, Nicki diverted her attention to a real idol of hers: Madonna. “I don’t really know Gaga,” Nicki said, adding, “But as far as Madonna, I had the pleasure of working with her, and I feel she’s really changed and reinvented not only herself, but pop culture. What inspires me about Madonna is that she’s able to balance all of this with her family and her personal life, and I told her that.
We need to trust Nicki. She knows what she’s doing. And it’s not like she can’t still spit fire. We just need to let her do her and see how all this pans out. We think she’s got staying power.

Timbaland Admits Jay-Z Collab Album Would Be a ‘Dream’-
Nobody can deny Timbaland’s contributions to the music industry. After helping solidify the careers of Missy Elliot, the late Aaliyah and then Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, we know Tim is good for a club-banger or several, so when he starts talking about collaborations that would mean a lot to him, it’s hard not to listen.
It’s a little known fact that Jay-Z wrote a verse or two for Tim back when was still half of the duo Timbaland and Magoo. Early in March Timbaland took to Twitter to tell the whole story and even included the link to the song Jay was a part of.
So we understand when Timbaland says that he would love to work with Jay-Z again. To re-connect years down the road, after they made their millions, seems like the right thing to do. Crazy Tim beats + Even crazier Jay-Z rhymes= AWESOME!
Beyond reuniting old friends, Timbaland sees a working with Jay-Z on a full length album as something that would push him as an artist. “Jay’s a family man. My dream is to do a whole album with the dude,” Timbaland confirmed. “That’s my goal. I pray on that. I know what it could be. Even if we didn’t put it out, it would be fun. It would push me somewhere I’ve never been as a producer.”
We think it would be cool too. Do that!

Rihanna Planning World Tour-
Apparently, break time from touring is nearing it’s end for Good Girl Gone Bad, Rihanna. Sitting down with UK pop station, Capital FM, she told them of her plans to go on yet another world tour in 2013. Right now she’s entered the planning stages of the show and according to her, the show will be bigger than ever this time around.
“We’re going to be going on tour next year,” she said, to support her newest album Talk That Talk. “We’re spending out time planning to make sure it’s bigger than anything we’ve done and something more impactful,” Rihanna said. “Maybe something different, so my fans can get excited about it.”
Unfortunately she didn’t offer many more details than that. It’s not know whether she wants to build anticipation or if she just doesn’t know yet. When asked for more, she responded “Too early to talk!”
Well then. We will keep you posted on when she touches down here in Los Angeles. But if you can’t wait until then, you can catch the Bajan musician in the upcoming action film “Battleship,” where she plays no-BS-taking weapons specialist Cora Raikes. That hits theaters next Wednesday on April 18th.
