If your’e heading out to Coachella this weekend, there are options beyond just seeing bands. There are plenty of sets dedicated entirely to getting your dance on — and quite a few are names (or beats) you already know. Enjoy this quick guide to the must-see DJs playing at Coachella.


10. Afrojack

Grammy award-winning music producer Afrojack is known for his signature Dutch House sound.

Recently, he’s done many collaborations, including “Take Over Control” and a featured slot on Pitbull’s “Give Me Everything.” In 2007 he began his own record label Wall Recordings. He’s gone all over the world numerous times and has DJ’d massive music festivals including Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Veags.

Afrojack is ranked as one of the top 10 DJs in the world according to DJ Mag.


9. Amon Tobin

Amon Tobin is a Brazilian musician considered to be one of the most influential electronic music artists in the world.

He has released seven major studio albums since his debut in 1996. He is noted for his unusual method of sound design and music productions. Amon Tobin’s music has been used in movies like The Italian Job and 21.

Tobin’s done video game scores too: In 2005, he made the score to Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

8. AVICII

Born Tim Berg, AVICII is a Swedish DJ, remixer, and record producer.

He began making music at the age of 18, writing and remixing tracks in his bedroom. His melodic house sound gained him a huge following and led to the support of very well-known DJs like Tiesto, Pete Tong, Laidback Luke, Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Eric Morillo, and Kaskade.

Berg keeps his productions up-to-date and innovative which makes him stand out among the rest. His hit song “Levels” has stayed on top of the charts for months on end. Recently, Avicii premiered Madonna’s new track at Ultra Music Festival with the pop idol singing along side of him.

7. Borgore

Borgore is the alias of Israeli Dubstep producer Asaf Borger. He’s known for a type of genre called Gorestep. Before he was a DJ, he was the drummer in an Israeli death metal band.

He’s a controversial figure, who has been accused of ruining dubstep, a condemnation he wears freely, and for bringing an odd, horror-movie aesthetic to EDM.

6. Calvin Harris

Harris released his first album, I Created Disco, in June of 2007. The album contained up-tempo electroclash songs that were influenced by music from the 1980s. The songs “Acceptable in the 80s” and “The Girls” became hits in the UK.

Most recently, Calvin Harris worked alongside Rihanna on the international chart topper “We Found Love” and had Ne-Yo as a guest on his track “Let’s Go.”

5. David Guetta

Just incase you don’t know by now, David Guetta was ranked #1 DJ in the world this year by DJ mag. He is the pioneer of French House music.

Guetta first started DJing in Paris in the mid-1980s at the age of 17, around when house music was just getting started. Now he’s best known for killing the dance floor.

A documentary on his life was recently released called Nothing But The Beat. David Guetta has worked with a ton of pop stars, from the Black Eyed Peas to Nicki Minaj to Jessie J.

4. DJ Shadow

DJ Shadow is one of the originators of trip-hop. His sound consists of genre-bending works of art merging elements of funk, rock, hip-hop, ambient, jazz, and soul, although he’s best known for creating beats in the hip hop world. He’s known as a master of sampling obscure beats.

3. Kaskade

Before becoming a top class DJ, Kaskade aka Ryan Raddon, owned a record store and worked as a club DJ to make ends meet for him as his wife in Utah. Kaskade’s musical career launched in 2004 with the release of In The Moment.

He traveled to Japan on his mission with the Church Of Latter-day Saints and when he returned he finished school at the University of Utah in Sal Lake City.

2. Swedish House Mafia

Swedish House Mafia are a group of house DJs consisting of producers Axwell, Steve Angello, and Sebastian Ingrosso.

The Swedish trio of DJs recently played a huge concert at Madison Square Garden in NYC that was live streamed all over the world.

1. Justice

Formed in 2003, Justice is a duo from Paris, France. They are mostly known for their remix of Simian’s “Never Be Alone,” (later renamed “We Are Your Friends”) as well as ”D.A.N.C.E.,” their single release from the Waters of Nazareth EP.

Justice are the most commercially successful act on the label of Pedro Winter (Busy P), Ed Banger. It’s been well over two years since they’ve done a show here in the States.
