Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre May Take Hologram Tupac On Tour-
Hologram Tupac was a mega-hit at this year’s first weekend of Coachella. So far the video of Holo-Tupac has garnered well over 5 million hits on Youtube, when you add the top 5 videos together. In two days, Hologram Tupac’s twitter has drawn in over 20K followers. And while the fact that this technology has people whirling and bubbling with ideas about who will be the next celebrity brought back from the dead, representatives from Dre and Snoop’s camps are working logistically to take Hologram Tupac on the road.
The hologram reportedly took between $100,000 to upwards of $400,000 to make and around 4 months. Afeni Shakur, Tupac’s mother was “thrilled” by her son’s resurgence according to TMZ, so maybe taking him on a joint tour with Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre won’t be offensive to her either. Afeni is known for being very protective of her late son’s music and image.
The technology would allow for Tupac to perform songs and in ways that he never got to do alive. Ed Ulbrich, the chief creative officer of Digital Domain, the company responsible for Hologram Tupac made it clear that they didn’t just make a hologram of archival footage of the rapper. They made it from almost nothing. “This is not found footage. This is not archival footage,” he told the Wall Street Journal. “This is an illusion.” He added that Tupac’s Coachella show was “just the beginning,” noting that “Dre has a massive vision for this.”
They haven’t yet decided if a stadium tour or smaller venue trek will be more appropriate but right now the tour’s status is listed as “likely but not guaranteed.”
We just hope Hologram Tupac makes it to LA. We will be front row, center!
Drake Giving New Artists Chance to Open ‘Paradise’ Tour-
Still considered new to the game, Drizzy Drake knows more than anyone how a break can give an artist the chance to fulfill their dreams. For him it was a phone call from Lil Wayne and a plane ride to Houston. Now Drake wants to pay it forward. So he’s teamed with Ourstage.com and Real Hip Hop Network to find the next big MC in hip hop.
The winner will get the chance to open for Drake in 27 cities of his (sold out!) Club Paradise tour. And being that they will travel with a host of stars like J. Cole, Meek Mill and Waka Flocka Flame, it’s only right that they get to tour like one too. So winning will include transport on a decked out tour bus. What’s not to love?
If you want to get involved, simply upload your audition video to Ourstage.com between now and April30th at 12:00 pm EST, when fan voting ends. Of the top 100 fan driven videos, Drake will pick the winner with help from OurStage and Real Hip Hop Network.
To enter you have to be 18 or older and live with the 48 contiguous United States.
